The Fog Is Real

When Life Feels Foggy: Understanding Why You Feel Stuck (And How to Move Forward)
“Clarity doesn’t come from having all the answers. It comes from being willing to ask the real questions.”
You wake up fine. Go through your day fine. Tell everyone you’re fine. But as an intersectional woman or trans woman navigating life’s unique pressures, something inside whispers… you’re not.
Sometimes, life doesn’t fall apart — it just… fogs over. You’re not in crisis; however, you’re not moving forward either. You wake up with a weight you can’t quite name. Decisions feel harder than they should. You keep saying “I’m fine” when something inside you quietly knows… you’re not.
This kind of stuckness can creep in slowly: after a big life change, during a crossroads you didn’t choose, or simply when the old way of being doesn’t fit anymore — but the new way hasn’t revealed itself yet.
Why Do I Feel Stuck? Understanding the Real Reasons
You might think the problem is you—that you’re lazy, unmotivated, or overthinking, and so you end up procrastinating about everything and nothing.
Here’s a truth grounded in my coaching experience and somatic practice: feeling stuck is rarely a character flaw. It’s a signal. A signal that something in your life needs attention or adjustment.
It can indicate a need for change—a need to re-evaluate your direction in life: your goals, your values, your core beliefs. And I’m not talking about religion here—I mean what truly matters to you now, not what you think should matter, but what actually does in this present moment.
Feeling stuck can also be your mind and body’s way of protecting you. For example, when life feels threatening—even subtly—we freeze. And sometimes we stay frozen long after the danger has passed. You could be feeling overwhelmed, under-supported, or searching for a kind of clarity you haven’t had space to reach.
The Good News? Fog Lifts.
How One Conversation Can Clear the Mental Fog
You’d be amazed at what can shift in a single conversation. The right conversation, that is.
Not a debate. Not “what you should do.” But a space to lay it all out. To explore without pressure. To be asked the kind of questions that open windows where there were only walls.
A space to breathe. To reconnect with your inner wisdom. To find your way forward—not by being handed a map, but by drawing your own.
